Last week, we had a look at the reasons why a sander can be such a useful tool for wet felting, especially for nuno felting and embellishing with viscose fiber. We also spoke about what to look for when choosing one.

This week, we get into the issue that makes most felt makers nervous: how to prepare your work area to stay safe.

How do you prepare your wool?

Getting your wool ready for sanding isn’t complicated. But a couple of details really matter: too much water or not enough soap can really become a problem. Getting this balance right makes all the difference.

What about the sander itself?

There are a few simple things you can do to protect your machine and actually speed up the felting process at the same time. Nothing complicated, but worth knowing before you start.

Is it really safe?

This is the big question! My answer is yes. But you need to take the right precautions.

In this week's video, I go through all the safety measures in detail.

This is part of a series on sanding for wet felting. If you missed last week’s video, you can watch it here.
